Yep, the Texas Star Party is coming up next month, and I'm getting excited about it. This year, it's April 20-27, and I'll be heading to West Texas with my gear.
This year, I'm going to be just taking the Celestron. With its larger diameter, I'll be able to take advantage of the dark skies and chase some of the fainter objects.
I'm also going to do a little imaging. With my Canon DSLR, I'll set it up to take one 30 second exposure after another, and a couple of thousand frames later, I should have a very cool movie showing the stars and Milky Way rotating across the sky.
April is considerably cooler in West Texas than June is -- I'll be taking some warmer clothes, and might invest in some more long johns.

Are the stars at night really big and bright deep in the heart of Texas?
Well, it's not so much in the heart of Texas. It's more like the left elbow, but yes, they're very bright.
